Bike Journal. BIkeopath?
What is this? Yet another journal for
boozysmurf? Why does he need so many?
Well, as
digital_cyclops is my photojournal, so, this is my bike journal. The rational being that I don't care to deal with filtering certain people on and off posts in my regular journal. You want to hear stories about biking, follow my trips and treks, see the routes and maps I take, and the mileage I do?
This is the place for it.
You add this you get stories of being hit by cars (I hope very few of them), a lot of mileage/weather, thoughts on the distances I'm accomplishing, trip-planning, etc. You'll get pictures from the road (which will cross into both the other journals, probably), ideas for trips and excursions, and any tips and tricks I come up with, or find on ye olde interweb.
If this is not interesting to you, Yyou may not want to add this LJ. Duh.
If it is, go crazy. Comment if you want to. Hell, come RIDE if you want to.
Don't stalk me though. That's not cool. Unless you're a hot chick, in which case, go ahead.
Currently, I have two bikes.
I have my beater. My beater is a 2000 Minelli. Steel frame, full suspension, 21 speed. P.O.S. Heavy like lead. I bought it off a guy who's wife had won it from Tim Hortons Roll up the R-r-r-r-rim to win. SHe didn't like it, too big, to heavy.
Also, nearly indestructable. Really! I drove this every winter, in Ottawa, home of the salt-water road, for four years. I did no mainenance. Know what it needed? A new tire, a new tube, and new brake and shifter cables. And a really, really good cleaning. That's it, for five years of neglect. Awesome.

I have my baby. My baby is a 2004 Devinci Stockholm. Like the Minelli, made in Quebec, Canada. Light, fast. Fantastic bike. I did 3000km on it last spring/summer/fall. Ended up needing a new tire, tube, brake pads. Unfortunately, the tires are Michellin Transworld City's and they ain't cheap (about $40 each). It's comfortable, and doesn't really stand out in a crowd, which I also like. It's got some good dings and scratches on it to, because I ride it, and I lock it up places, and I wander home from the bar with it, too. I'm well rounded.
